Introducing Backup and Recovery Systems
September 21, 2026

A few months ago I wrote something that made a lot of people uncomfortable.
iCloud is a sync. Not a backup.
I heard from several of you afterward. People who had been treating iCloud as their safety net for years. People who realized in one quiet moment of reading that their photos, their documents, their whole digital life, was more exposed than they had thought.
That realization is why I built this.
Last month we built the contact system, so your people know who to call. Today is the next piece. Making sure they can actually find what they need when they get there.
The Backup and Recovery Systems guide covers six things. Your digital inventory, a plain map of what you have across memories, money, identity, and access. Sorting what truly needs backing up from what is replaceable. The backup itself, with the 3-2-1 rule explained in normal English. A recovery plan written down now, so Future You is not inventing one while tired. The access document that connects all of it to your emergency contact. And a five-minute quarterly check to keep it running.
Six worksheets. One focused weekend.
If you already have the Digital Emergency Contact System, this is the natural next step. If you do not, it stands completely on its own.
